Overview

Spruce was entrusted with the upgrade of NYPA’s highly visible public-facing website — migrating the platform from Sitecore CMS version 8.x to 9.x and moving the entire platform to the Microsoft Azure cloud.

This was a high-profile, technically complex project involving numerous teams across NYPA — spanning communications, DevOps, application development, and cybersecurity. Adding to the complexity, a Governor change occurred midway through the project, requiring the team to navigate organizational change without losing momentum

1. Complex Multi-Team Coordination

Spruce managed coordination across NYPA’s communications, DevOps, application development, and cybersecurity teams — maintaining project momentum and alignment through a complex organizational environment including a mid-project change of Governor.

2. Sitecore CMS Upgrade

The upgrade from Sitecore 8.x to 9.x was carefully executed to preserve all existing content and functionality while enabling access to Sitecore 9’s improved personalization, performance, and management capabilities.

3. Azure Cloud Migration

The full migration of the nypa.gov platform to Microsoft Azure improved performance, scalability, and security — while also enabling features that had never functioned as intended on the previous infrastructure.
